Instead of running XP as a guest in VR i think you should try lmms for MAC-OS. I emediately need to make a disclaimer because i know absolute nothing about MAC, but i know people that does :p So the issues you may encounter running lmms-MAC will still be solvable -i hope If you like to introduce yourself, to the community, go here: A few rules and useful forum instructions You have to go into preferences in LMMS, click the speaker button above the keyboard symbol, then select your audio interface, hit OK, close the program, then restart and the sound should work. I emidiately need to make a disclaimer because i know absolute nothing about MAC, but i know people that does :p So the issues you may incounter running lmms-MAC will still be solvable If it DOES light up green, but you still hear nothing, then someone with more knowledge will need to chime in. I run my lmms-development on a VR and the lag is horrific! I honestly do not think you will be able to use lmms on a MAC running an emulator. If anybody here has any suggestions I would be eternally grateful. LMMS alternatives are mainly Music Production Apps but may also be Digital Audio Workstations or Audio Editors. Other great apps like LMMS are Reaper, Ardour, Ableton Live and Bitwig Studio. I've been trying all day to find an answer here by myself, but as a person who literally just figured out how to use an emulator last night my efforts have been fruitless. It's not free, so if you're looking for a free alternative, you could try GarageBand or Zrythm. Or I could be wrong, which is also extremely likely. I guess maybe the VM could be getting overwhelmed by the larger sound files, but I have no idea how to fix that. The games themselves (ISOs of the early 2000s I Spy games) run pretty much fine. Small sound effects on the desktop are fine, but when I run any of the games I've downloaded, those just make no sound at all. Download LMMS for Windows now from Softonic: 100 safe and virus free. When I start the VM, it does the classic jingle on the welcome screen but cuts out halfway through it. The only sound card that gives me any kind of result is ICH AC97. Host is a MacBook Pro running Catalina 10.15.6, guest is Windows XP professional 32 bit SP3. If I did something wrong here, please let me know. It had a good response time to user commands and minimal impact on the workstation's performance, using low CPU and RAM.Īll in all, X-Lmms comes loaded with rich features and configuration settings to help you edit, mix and enhance audio tracks, and it's mainly geared toward seasoned users.I'm incredibly new to emulator software as well as these forums so I apologize in advance for my inexperience. Undoing and redoing your actions is possible.Īs far as program settings are concerned, you can set the buffer size, hide tooltips, display volume as dBV, compress project files, compact track buttons, modify the default working directory of the application, VST plugin, artwork and other apps, fiddle with performance settings regarding channel activity indicators and smooth scrolling in the song editor, switch to another audio and Midi interface, and so on. Make audio adjustments and apply effectsįor example, you can adjust the volume level, apply the reverb effect, tweak the pitch, boost the bass, analyze the spectrum, or insert echo and distortion effects. The song editor enables you to record samplea from the audio device and play them, add bassline, sample and automation tracks, toggle between edit and draw mode, activate auto-scrolling and loop points, zoom in and out, clone and mute tracks, as well as tinker with presets, effects, plugins, and the controller rack. It doesn't change the Windows registry configuration. The software supports FL Studio and Hydrogen files as well which can be imported to be used with LMMS. Another possibility is to save it to a USB flash drive to immediately run it on any PC with minimum effort. Since there is no setup pack involved, you can save the program files in any part of the disk and just click the executable to launch X-Lmms.
